Hey Gopher sports fans! Answer the following question for a chance to win two tickets to a men’s basketball game (Dec. 13 vs. Central Michigan, 8 p.m.), or two tickets to a women’s basketball game (Dec. 23 vs. NJIT, 7 p.m.), at Williams Arena:
What kind of stories and information about University of Minnesota research (topics, resources, tips, etc.) would you find most relevant to your work?
Leave a comment below in response to the question by Friday, Dec. 2, and you’ll be entered into a random drawing (two winners). We’ll notify the winners via email.

I find stories about the “outside world” very beneficial. Sometimes we get so caught up in our studies and our work that we forget about what is happening outside our little bubble. Big things are happening around the world everyday and although this might not be one’s first priority especially with the higher work expectations these days I believe is is very important for us to get a taste of what is going on in the world around us. Even though it may be happening on the other side of the world, it may still affect us someday.

I enjoy reading about any and all significant news regarding advances in science and medicine from research work done here at the U. Of special interest are news from the labs doing research studies in laboratory animals.

-Finding examples of successful collaboration research between disciplines
-Tips to avoid unnecessary conflicts in multi-disciplinary research// how to differentiate necessary conflicts from unnecessary one.
-How to effectively Handle large amount of grant fund
-How can people become both a leader role and an assistant role in several research?
(Many researchers sometimes take a leader role, and sometimes take an assistant role)

I would like to have more info on Internal Service Organizations (ISO), including their offered services, staff assistance, and news. For example, BIPL (biomedical image processing laboratory) moved from Hasselmo to Jackson Hall and changed names (University Imaging Center) and added new microscopes (IVIS Spectrum whole-animal imaging system). This would be good info to add to OVPR e-news.

As a person whose work is about connecting the visual arts to research and science, I am very interested in unusual pairings of researchers and/or work that is done across academic disciplines.
I would love to see stories about research on creativity –especially in the sciences and am especially interested in brain research that helps us to learn more about why “we” do what we do.
