Want to learn about funding opportunities from the National Endowment for the Humanities, as well as how to secure NEH funding? Be sure to attend a special NEH regional workshop on March 21 from 8:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
The workshop takes place at Macalester College in the Weyerhaeuser Board Room (see building 27 on campus map).
Mark Silver, senior program officer in the NEH Research Division, will discuss NEH funding opportunities and offer tips for writing competitive proposals. In addition, David O’Fallon, president of the Minnesota Humanities Center, and Casey DeMarais, senior program officer, will provide an overview of the center’s state-focused programs and opportunities.
In the second half of the workshop, Silver will run a mock proposal review panel. Participants will read, discuss and rank proposals to better understand how proposals are evaluated and recommended for NEH funding.
Silver will meet privately with individual scholars to confer about projects as well. Fifteen-minute appointments are available March 21 from 2-4:30 p.m., and March 22 from 9:30 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Those requesting individual appointments must submit a one-page, single-spaced summary of the project by March 9. These summaries should focus on the project’s intellectual significance.
This workshop is free and open to the public but registration is required. To participate in the workshop and/or request an individual appointment, register here.
